Costume quick reference

Costumes deserve their own selection workflow because appearance, starting effects and unlock progress answer different questions. The launch announcement establishes gameplay changes to named costumes. This page focuses on selecting and checking them; it is not a complete character roster or an invented route to every unlock.

Versioned costume records

The 1.0.23 record and 1.0.24 record provide the preset and appearance context. The 1.0.33 announcement supplies the Scholar Lizard fix. Historical effects above are labeled by version; a change record is not a substitute for the complete current tooltip.

Choose an effect for an actual run

• Begin with the action that produces your damage. Before selecting an offensive costume, identify whether your intended setup relies on ordinary attacks, Special Attacks, a debuff or another explicitly described source. Read the words in the costume effect and compare them with that action. A bonus with an impressive number can be irrelevant if your run rarely uses its trigger. This is an interpretation step, not a universal ranking of costumes.

• Make the drawback part of the decision. A penalty should not disappear from your comparison just because a guide emphasizes the positive line. Ask whether the cost affects the situation that most often ends your runs. If your current difficulty is surviving repeated mistakes, an additional defensive compromise may be harder to use than it looks in a damage-focused screenshot. There is no measured clear-rate table here that proves one tradeoff is always worthwhile.

• Test a change against your previous problem. Keep your weapon direction and usual play habits reasonably consistent when comparing two available choices. Notice whether the new effect helps in the encounters you previously struggled with, rather than recording only an unusually good reward sequence. You do not need to manufacture a numerical score: a clear description of the benefit and the new difficulty is already a more useful personal record.

Read unlocks and appearance variants separately

• Copy the requirement from the locked entry. Record the exact condition and the progress shown in your game. A costume name in a patch note proves the entry was discussed, but does not supply a hidden acquisition condition. If an old community guide uses another name, compare its screenshot and date before attempting its route. Do not spend time farming a named enemy unless a source actually connects that enemy to the unlock.

• Do not count every visual variant as a new costume. An appearance option and a gameplay entry can be separate layers of the interface. When discussing collection progress, say whether you are counting selectable effects, portraits or variants. The official statement that seven costumes gained appearance variants does not establish seven additional sets of stats. A complete mapping between every variant and its unlock condition is not available in our sources.

• Keep personal collection notes specific. A useful note includes the displayed name, visible condition and whether the requirement appears complete. If something fails to unlock, record the action that you expected to satisfy it and the state afterward. Avoid describing the problem as a missing costume until you have distinguished a locked entry from an appearance option you have not selected.

Verify the active setup before departure

• Inspect what is equipped after applying a preset. A saved configuration is useful only when the active state matches what you intended. Compare the costume portrait and effect description after loading a setup, particularly if you were switching between experiments. The historical preset fix is a reason to describe reproduction steps precisely if a similar symptom returns, not a claim that the bug remains in every current installation.

• Keep starting items tied to their actual source. If you are investigating an unexpected item after a costume or Talent change, write down the order of those changes. Include any inventory movement in that sequence. This makes it possible to distinguish an intended starting effect from an item left over during experimentation. Do not use an old exploit description as an ordinary unlock or build instruction.

• Report the unknown weapon honestly. The Scholar Lizard fix refers to a particular weapon without identifying it in the announcement. This guide therefore does not name a culprit. If you observe an effect disappearing, record your own weapon and version as evidence. Your observation can help narrow the problem without turning an incomplete patch note into a fabricated mechanic.
